FAQ
How does Extended Cancer Care work?
Extended Cancer Care is our integrated workflow that empowers community pharmacies to deliver effective cancer care to their patients with cancer. Partner Pharmacies are responsible for dispensing, while our oncology pharmacists and specialists provide clinical verification, support on reimbursement navigation, consultations, education and ongoing adverse effect monitoring services. Lean more about our workflow on the Partnership Program page.
How do you help me get new patients?
Our mission is to empower community pharmacies to better serve their patients with cancer. Given the prevalence of cancer within Canada, many of your patients will have a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. We strive to equip our Partner Pharmacies with the tools to better serve their patients, so that they can build their reputation as a hub for personalized cancer care within their communities. We support our network of Partner Pharmacies with training, tools and resources to help them expand their reach within their communities, while maximizing the care they can provide to their existing patients.
What is the revenue model?
We operate using a percentage based revenue sharing model for eligible ECPN Formulary molecules only. Partner Pharmacies retain 100% of their dispensing fees and all revenue from ancillary supportive care medications. Partner Pharmacies have the opportunity to grow their business by dispensing new ECPN Formulary molecules and by serving new patients that would otherwise get their cancer care elsewhere. Get in touch or visit our Partnership Program page to learn more about our revenue model.
Why would I partner with ECPN?
With over 250 years of total combined experience in our field, our team has built our evidence-informed, best practice workflow to deliver safe and effective cancer care in partnership with community pharmacies. In addition to providing expert-led care to patients, we offer Partner Pharmacies on-demand clinical support, resources, education and guidance to serve their patients with cancer and grow their business.
How does ECPN benefit my patients?
Patients and their care partners are empowered by their right to choose where they receive their care. Community pharmacies are accessible, trustworthy and convenient hubs for care, where patients can feel comfortable and supported in a familiar environment. Patients and their care partners can receive expert cancer care, while still having their other pharmacy care needs met by their community pharmacist.
If patients aren’t bringing me these prescriptions already, why would they?
As members of the Extend Cancer Pharmacist Network, Partner Pharmacies can build their reputation as a hub for personalized and effective cancer care right within their communities. A survey found that 64% of patients noted that access to a pharmacist with in-depth knowledge of their prescription medication was their top priority. Partner Pharmacies can benefit from the existing reputation of Extend Pharmacy Group within the industry and with patients across Ontario to market themselves as an accessible, convenient and exceptional option for receiving pharmacy cancer care.
